Series is the name of the new feature for TikTok creators to sell their stories as premium content. Initially only available to select creators, with this tool users will be able to publish collections of premium content behind a paywall.

Each individual series can include up to 80 videos, each up to 20 minutes long. With this, the TikTok community will be able to enter “a new and longer format to see their favorite creators and content,” the application said.

It is important to note that creators will be able to determine the price of their series. Also, the company pointed out that, like all content on the platform, the videos in these series must comply with the standards of the community rules.

According to the application, in the coming months, the company will open applications so that other creators can sign up in order to have access to this function. Thus, for a limited time, they will receive 100% of the profits, after paying the TikTok and processing fees.

However, according to a representative of the platform, it is not clear what the revenue split will be in the long term. “As the series is in its early phase, we are currently focused on building the product and listening to feedback from our creators to improve the product,” the company spokesperson said.

It’s clear that TikTok’s latest announcements show that it is looking to appease creators and give them more ways to earn money through its social network amid increased competition from other companies.
