Paul Rudd Admits the Discomfort of him Filming the End of ”Friends”: ”It was a little surreal”

Marvel’s Ant-Man also played a prominent role in the legendary sitcom, although he didn’t like it that much

Paul Rudd is enjoying his most international success thanks to embodying the biggest avenger, Ant-Man, who is currently dominating the billboard with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. However, he was also present in one of the most popular series in television history: Friends. Of course, Paul does not keep a good memory of the end of it.

The legendary NBC series chose him in the role of Mike Hannigan, and despite only being in 18 episodes out of 236, he played an important role in the final stretch of the fiction. He ended up becoming Phoebe’s husband, and in fact, he got to be in the first part of the final episode.

He already 18 years ago that, but currently, an interview for the British program Heart has uncovered how he came to feel being part of Friends. The role of Mike has not been one of the projects that have marked his career the most, but there are many who have recognized him for having been present in the sitcom. He has told it so, with his usual cheerful tone although distinguishing how “surreal” everything seemed to him.

The fragment begins with one of the interviewers thanking him for his participation in the project, and without missing the chance to ask him how he had it during filming.

The actor, without having any kind of problem, replies that it was fun, although he describes his experience as “a bit surreal.” Likewise, he says that he made it quite a bit to the end of the series, and although he appreciates being told that he did play an essential role, he also admits to having felt strange being in the series finale. “I just thought I shouldn’t be there. It’s like I get front-row seats to things I shouldn’t see, they’re all crying, emotional, and I was like…Wow,” he admits.

“I felt very privileged, but I was also like… I just want to sit back here and get out of the way,” he finished. Of course, he is referring to all the drama that took place behind and in front of the cameras, as the entire cast of the series could not help but be emotional when facing the end of a decade of work. Instead, Rudd could not connect in the same way for having joined the cast in only a few episodes.

Finally, and leaving the subject of what it was like to be in the series, the interviewers ask him if there is a WhatsApp group of actors from the series, to which he answers that “if there is, I’m not in it.” Of course, it cannot be denied that his presence in the series has already gone down in the history of television. Currently, it seems that all his time is occupied by filming the new season of Only Murders in the Building, in which he will share a project with Meryl Streep and Selena Gomez.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is now available in movie theaters.
