Vista Murrieta High School has won $25,000 for being named America’s Most Spirited High School.
The school earned the most online votes — and the grand prize — for its 90-second school spirit video in the Varsity Brands School Spirit Awards, a national competition run by Varsity Brands.
A total of $70,000 was awarded across 15 categories, a news release states. The honor marked the third time Vista Murrieta has claimed the award.
Vista Murrieta, which is 20 years old, “continues to keep school spirit at the heart of their mission as a school,” the release states. “Every Bronco commits his or herself to a motto of CLASS: Character, Leadership, Attitude, Scholarship, and Service. Within 101 clubs and organizations on campus, Broncos look inward to determine how their passions can serve VMHS.”
The school was lauded for its support of athletics, participation in community blood drives and campus-wide volunteer projects.
“Vista Murrieta High School is not just an educational institution,” the release states. “It is an essential part of its community and the essence of spirit.”
Principal Celeste Scallion praised her students in the release.
“Our students have worked exceptionally hard to make sure everyone has a seat at the table. This award is amazing for our community, it demonstrates our commitment to having meaningful experiences and activities for all students.”
